"Immersion Experiences: Creating a greater awareness of mission."

Immersion or exposure experiences that are supported by analysis and faith reflection are a valuable tool for creating a greater awareness of mission.  The experience of intentionally moving out of the safety and familiarity of our own culture and socioeconomic comfort creates an opportunity for us to be confronted not only by some of our unquestioned cultural assumptions, but also by a very different context that challenges our concepts of justice, our images of God and therefore our understanding of mission.  This paper is an attempt to integrate personal experiences with missiological theory and challenge.
